Why homeschool?

I get this question all the time. I'm sure most, nah, I take that back, I'm sure ALL of my fellow homeschoolers get asked this question whenever the topic of education comes up. What do you tell them? I'm curious to know. In the beginning I'm sure we all had our serious reasons, but as time goes by, what do you tell them now? Is it still serious? Or do you have more fun with your answers?

Post your answers, because I know I'm not the only one who answers, "Because it's fun!"

Sorry for the second post, but I couldn't figure out how to edit my previous post, above. I wanted to add that all my "serious" explanations that I have given people about why I homeschool are still met with questions and raised eyebrows. However, whenever I just tell people how happy my child is and how he LOVES learning and does so well in his studies, that seems to trump every other reason to homeschool. Few people can say much against a happy child who is learning well. : )

I homeschool for the flexibility it offers me and for the smiles and happiness it offers my son. His true joy of learning is the biggest reward I can receive!
