Open House Creative
Costa Mesa, CA
6 Week Art Workshops // Camps // Events
Masters of makings, the culture creators, the dreamers of dreams. Open House Creative encourages creativity by providing purposefully designed workshops and products to spark new ideas. This is a place where adults and kids; novices and masters can come together to create the unexpected. Workshops are not just for ‘creatives’ but for those who crave to know more. Their mission is simple: take professional art ideas and break them down into such a way that anyone can begin to understand the fundamentals of Color Theory or Neo-pop Realism. Open House Creative's kid’s program is rooted in inventive thinking and focuses on the future-youth of scientists, mathematicians and designers who will use creative problem solving skills to become the game changers of tomorrow. They work with charter, private, and public schools to bring you workshops in pen and ink, painting, design, color theory, ceramics and more.
Courses instill a balanced, well-rounded arts education that incorporates
classical training and standards-based knowledge of the elements of art
and principles of design while encouraging students to explore their
unique process and support individual, creative outcomes. A wide variety
of media is used. Low cost, materials included. Ages 7-12
Art Classes for Children
Terry has taught art in high school, middle school and elementary school and now teaches from her home located on the border of Orange and Tustin. Her philosophy is to teach drawing techniques first and than work with color. Students learn to draw faces/people in proportion and objects in three dimension. Composition, value, color theory, etc. are taught as well as a monthly session on Art Masters. All materials are supplied and included in the cost of classes. The method of teaching guides children into comparing to themselves and not to the others in the class. For more information contact Terry atwww.artclassesforchildren.com or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org

KNITTING FOR HOMESCHOOLERS
nurture your child's brain development while they're having fun at Knitting to Learn!
Regular Handwork, whether knitting or crochet or sewing, is a different type of "brainwork" that provides a great complement to academic learning. Children who participate in hobbies such as knitting that engage both hands in a variety of movements build a strong neural foundation for the symbolic thinking they will need later for mathematics and abstract reasoning. The rhythmic movement of the yarn through the fingers provides gentle sensory stimulation that is soothing as the children gradually experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with making something beautiful from start to finish. Group and/or individual classes are available year-round, flexible schedule in Lake Forest or surrounding areas. Crochet and intermediate knitting classes are also available for students who have learned the basic (garter stitch) techniques. Students are encouraged to practice at home, and parents are welcome to watch and/or help in class. Lenore Dunn has taught Handwork (knitting, crocheting, and sewing) in a charter school as well as classes for homeschoolers in grades 1-8. She enjoys helping children of all abilities to express their unique creativity while making something they will always treasure. For more information, or if you have any questions, please call Mrs.Dunn at 949-212-6101 or go to www.knittingtolearn.com.
