My name is Kathy and I have lived in Tustin for 47 years.
I have just created Mother Nature Walking Tours. These two-hour loop tours take place in Santiago Oaks Regional park. During the tours, we hike through two local habitats...coastal sage scrub and riparian woodland. I chat about the indigenous Tongva tribe, their culture and use of plants (ethnobotany), local animals, local history and some folklore.
I can tailor hikes to suit your needs. I can shorten them or lengthen them. I can cover only ethnobotany or local animals, etc.
Since I am just getting started, I will be offering free tours to homeschooling families, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Indian Guides. All I ask in return is that the adult chaperones write a review in tripadvisor.com and yelp.com.
I offer hikes Tues through Sat and I would suggest early morning hikes and dusk hikes.
Start at 8 or 9 am and finish by 10 or 11. Or start around 5 or 6 and end around 7 or 8.
I will offer free hikes twice a day. First come, first served.
I love giving tours and sharing all the local scoop! I hope you will join me!
I have been talking with families. I think the easiest way to go is a 1-hour tour for K-8. Then high schoolers could go on the two-hour tour. I think it's best for all. Free tours through July! All I ask is guardians/parents write a review for tripadvisor.com and yelp.com.
